Tailored solutions to suit your retirement goals

When John and Lorraine Dodd began considering the transition from their home of 52 years to an independent living community, there were several things that they knew for certain they wanted in their new residence.

Staying local was a priority for the couple, as was a smaller property since their large garden was becoming too much too maintain. They also wanted a modern home with space for two cars, all set in a connected and supportive community with access to in-home services as they need them.

When the perfect opportunity arose at Karidis Retirement Villages Pasadena community, they were eager to jump at the chance.

“We thought this house would be very manageable into the future. It looked very nice, much nicer than some other villages, so it was easy to choose here,” Lorraine said.

“We saw it straight after the previous tenant left and before it had been refurbished but we liked it and knew that it was perfect for our needs.”

The Dodd’s then put their house on the market while they waited for their new home at Pasadena to be refurbished. However, it wasn’t feasible to remain in their old home, as the property was staged for sale with hire furniture and coronavirus restrictions meant private inspections could occur at any time.

That’s when the team at Karidis Retirement Villages stepped in with a solution tailored to the Dodd’s unique circumstances by offering them furnished rental accommodation at the company’s Avista Glenelg community until the sales process was complete – a process that took just five weeks.

“We were really grateful for the assistance we got in renting somewhere else and it worked out beautifully – we couldn’t have done it without the help of Karidis Retirement Villages,” Lorraine said.

“We didn’t have to take a lot down to Avista Glenelg because it was fully furnished and all we needed was our clothes and food, so it was easy and seamless. We thought of it as a five-week holiday at the beach – it was lovely.”

“Karidis Retirement Villages has been so helpful and have made the whole transition to our new home a pleasant experience.”
